Did you know that the Fun Run Basket Auction has raised over $30,000 in the last four years? Last year alone, the basket auction brought in around $11,000! Seeing these numbers makes the efforts of putting the baskets together a bit more fun….as in “fundraising”!
Each year, a “basket person” is elected, nominated or just draws the short end of the straw from their class. These “basket persons” then proceed to ask, beg or whatever it takes to illicit donations from their child’s class to make up a themed basket. The themed baskets are then up for a silent auction beginning the week prior to Fun Run. During Fun Run, the silent auction bids are closed and each winner is notified of their winning basket. Baskets generally go from $35- $850! The themes are as diverse as the prices they go for, including: Girls Room Makeover, Night in Italy, Lucky Lottery, Movie Night, Game Night and the list goes on.
